ALABAMA COLA HAM
1 (10 lb.) fully cooked, bone in ham, shank end preferred whole cloves 1 (1-liter) bottle cola-type soft drink 1 c. dark brown sugar
Heat oven to 325 degrees; place ham, fat side down on rack in shallow roasting pan. Pour cola into pan reserving 1/2 cup. Bake uncovered about 2 hours basting every 20 minutes with pan drippings. Remove from oven and cool about 10 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 375 degrees. With small sharp knife, cut away rind from ham and trim off all but thin layer of fat. Score fat in 1/4-inch deep diamonds. Place one whole clove in center of every other diamond. Stir brown sugar and remaining 1/2 cup cola. Pour over ham and bake 45 minutes longer, basting every 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand 15 minutes.
